I twist and turn over and find my soul has been brought back to consciousness in this realm by the light peaking over the horizon. My spirit danced through parties, porches, desserts, and love affairs during the night, as my body restored in peace.
I often wonder: is the mind ever quiet?
Still?
Resting?
The clock reads 4:55, but the sky reads "sunrise". The new day has begun. The morning dew is thick as the nights have been growing cooler, and the Virginia sun immediately heats the air at first light. Music still buzzes as the night owls have yet to begin their return to rest. They have watched over any mischief the night might have brought; now it's my turn to watch the day. Traffic slowly picks up as the crickets continue their song and dance. It's clear we've made it to the descending side of the year's peak. Even still... it is undeniably still summer.
Summer gives: we celebrate fertility as our ideas and bodies are fed warmth to encourage movement and growth. Although it is coming to an end, in about a month from now, I feel invigorated by the final push towards the equinox.
Even still, I want to dance.
Even still, I want to flirt.
Even still, I want to create.
And so I have been. We will be at more markets in the 757 and in Richmond through the fall, and so I am turning my efforts into preparing for this fall as well as the cold weather and ailments to follow it. I have poured more tinctures: elderberry, echinacea, mullein, thrive tonic. I began working my honey blends: oxymels and syrups. I have been noticing sites where the cleavers, violets, dandelion, plantain, and purslane are beginning to come back to remind us to care for our liver when they are fully formed and harvest-ready. I have collected ginger and continue to blend VitaliTea and Rest & Digest, my prize detox blends for the liver and gut system, respectively.
The summer movement continues to invigorate me. I flirt with the idea of returning to hosting the moon celebrations I have on the land... would you come?
We celebrate the new moon with fire for the spirit of the month's beginning- through the darkness we gather, restore, warm, and comfort each other as we shed old ideas and things that no longer serve us. We make room for the new vision and reinforce what has served us well. The moon is synonymous with the femininity we all have; we celebrate to embrace and embody how it fluctuates the continuum of time. As the month peaks, we celebrate the fullness of the moon and place our surged efforts into creating like a rush of waves crashing the shore. I have so many creations to share with the community; plenty of offerings for sale. I'm excited to debut some wellness packets including womb care and immune support.
Fall is peaking through as the summer veil becomes thinner, but I'm confident we're riding this one out
